The darkest time of the year is an opportunity for communities to gather together in care,

taking advantage of the natural pause.

Reflecting on the seasons which have passed,

and looking ahead to the seasons of

renewal to come.

Lighting candles is an annual winter practice throughout many cultures.

We use this practice to connect to our Nordic heritage illuminating roadsides and paths to community gatherings.

Located in the forest it is an opportunity to honour the land which graciously sustains us year round.

All proceeds from this event go towards supporting our local community food bank.

Hidden Springs
is a family run retreat and guesthouse located on Treaty Six Territory. We would like to respectfully acknowledge the traditional territories of the caretakers of Treaty Six Territory that lies within the colonial boarders of the province of Alberta.

Winfield is situated in the the ancestral homes of the ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐤ ᐊᐢᑭᕀ Nêhiyaw-Askiy (Plains Cree) ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ Niitsítpiis-stahkoii (Blackfoot), Michif Piyii (Métis) and Tsuut’ina.

While we live, work and play on this land, we understand that our role is a small one.

We aim to deconstruct any entitlement of the settler mentality, and participate in seeking avenues of reconciliation based in the shared history of stewardship for this land and

great hope for the future.
